same作形容词的用法
316 The same表示“同一个”，“一样”：
We all attend the same school．
We all belong to one and the same．（or the very same）group.
Wealth or poverty is（all）the same to me.
We are the same age，the same sex，the same taste．
The city looks the same as before（or as usual）．
Poor John remains the same as ten years ago．
317 Quite，much等词可以减弱the same的意思：
They are quite（or much，just）（＝almost）the same．
318 That（this）same可用来表示鄙视：
I dislike that same John．（我讨厌约翰那个家伙。）
What is the use of this same tool？（这玩意儿有什么用？）
319 The same常可与as引出的从句一起用，表示“和……同（一）样的”：
I live in the same house as he（lives in）．
She got the same salary as a man（got）．
This house is the same as yours（is）．

The same opportunity awaits you as（it awaits）anybody else．
He gave the same answer as（he gave）before．
有时和that或where引出的从句一起用，表示“同一个”：

320 The same还可和with引出的短语一道用，意思和the same…as差不多：
I live in the same house as he．
I live in the same house with him．
This is the same watch as I lost．

He died at the same age as John．

2．The same作代词的用法
321 The same可用作代词，表示“同样的事情（话）”等：
Everybody would say the same，and do the same．
322 The在商业或法律用语中还可代表前面刚提到的东西：
I bought a used car and sold（the）same（=it）the followingday．
We checked the report and found same（=it）correct．
Thongh our customers are different in taste，we try to satisfysame（＝them）．
323 在口语中the same可代表对方问句中的东西：
“Are you Dr．A？”“The same（=I am Dr．A）．”
“A happy New Year！”“（The）Same to you！”
“I worry about AIDS．”“Same here（=Me too）．”
3．The same作副词的用法
324 The Same也可用作副词，表示“同样（地）”：
Things go on just the same（=in the same way）．
I like pretty things the same as anybody else．
Everyone feels the same，thinks the same，acts the same．
325 All the same表示“尽管……仍然”：
She is not pretty，but I love her all the same（=nevertheless）．
He is a nice fellow．All the same（=In spite of all that），I can－not employ him．
I am still alive
．All the same，this accident has cost me dear．
326 Same as可表示just as（正像）：
He has to work same as（=just as）everyone else．（口语中用法）
I will do same as I am told．
