小学英语趣味小故事四则
（一）两只狗
A man has two dogs: a hound and a housedog. He trains the
hound
to
help
him
hurt
and
teaches
the
housedog
to
watch
the
house. When he returns home after a day’s hunt, he always gives
the
house-dog
some
meat.
The
hound
feels
very
angry.
He
says
unhappily
to
the
housedog,
“Where
I
work
very
hard
outside,
you
share
my
food.”
“Don’t
blame
me,
my
friend.
You
should
blame
the
master.
He
doesn’t
teach
me
to
hurt,
but
to
share other’s food,” the housedog answers.
Don’t blame children for the mis
takes of their parent
有一个人养了两条狗：一条是猎犬，一条是看家狗。他
训练猎狗帮 他打猎，教看家狗守家。当猎人打了一天猎回家
后，总要分给看家狗一些肉，猎狗对此很生气。它不高兴 地
对看家狗说道：
“我在外边追捕猎物十分辛苦，而你在家什
么都不做，但你却分享我 的食物。
”看家狗回答道：
“不要责
怪我，我的朋友。你应该去责备主人。他不教我打 猎，却只
教我分享别人的食物。
”不要因为父母的错误而去责备孩子。
（二）狮子国王
THE BEASTS of the field and forest had a Lion as their king.
He was neither wrathful, cruel, nor tyrannical, but just and gentle
as a king could be. During his reign he made a royal proclamation
for
a
general
assembly
of
all
the
birds
and
beasts,
and
drew
up
conditions for a universal league, in which the Wolf and the Lamb,
the Panther and the Kid, the Tiger and the Stag, the Dog and the
Hare,
should
live
together
in
perfect
peace
and
amity.
The
Hare
said,
shall take their place with impunity by the side of the strong.
after the Hare said this, he ran for his life.
有只狮子做了国王， 他善良、温和，与人一样和平、公
正。在他的统治下，惩恶扬善，裁决动物之间的纠纷，使所
有 的动物和睦相处。胆小的兔子说：
“我祈祷能得到这样的
日子，
那时弱者就不怕被强者 伤害了。
”

（三）狼与小羊
WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved
not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to
the
Lamb

Wolf's
right
to
eat
him.
He
thus
addressed
him:
last
year
you
grossly
insulted
me.
bleated
the
Lamb
in
a
mournful
tone
of
voice,
was
not
then
born.
Then
said
the
Wolf
,
feed
in
my
pasture.
good
sir,
replied
the
Lamb,
have
not
yet
tasted
grass.
Again
said
the
Wolf,
drink
of
my
well.
exclaimed
the
Lamb,
never
yet
drank
water,
for
as
yet
my
mother's
milk
is
both
food
